Stress Relief Herbs

In contrast to the chemical medicines, herbs are much more intelligent when it comes to stress relief. As our bodies evolved, so did herbs and they team up to make stressone powerful stress beating mechanism. What they do is to reduce the buildup of toxins in the organs, calm the mind, strengthen the heart and reduce adrenaline. All of these mentioned are the main cause of heart related illnesses caused by stress.

We currently process three of the most common stress reducing herbs:

  1. Chamomile

The ancient Egyptians dedicated chamomile to the sun since it cured many things, including aging , fever, intestinal pain due to overeating, drugs, and alcohol. It was also used to prevent children from having nightmares. This herb has proven to have a restorative and relaxing effect on the mind and body. Nowadays Chamomile tea is easily available and should be taken once or twice daily, especially before bedtime.

  1. Dill

One of the warning symptoms of stress is stomach problems. Dill is one of those herbs that are often overlooked. It is known to soothe upset stomachs, relieve cramps and aid digestion. In fact, it has such amazing tranquilizer properties that it will assist in a relaxing sleep.

  1. Lemon Grass

Historically, this herbs has been used to reduce anxiety and lower the stress levels. It increases overall relaxation and reduces anxiety. It is more commonly available as a tea and should be taken as often as required. It is even known to improve the mood of humans, which makes it a great herbs to have at home.

Two additional herbs that have lengthy track records for relieving stress are lavender and rosemary.  Lavender can easily be described as the royalty of herbs. It promotes relaxation, reduces anxiety, aids sleep and also balances the hormones. It can be taken in the form of tea, but most people prefer it in the form of essential oils. A few drops of lavender oil on one’s pillow before bed time will ensure a peaceful sleep.

Rosemary is known to relax the muscles in the body, which is directly caused by tension. When the muscles are relaxed, the blood flow to the eyes and brain are stabilized which then causes mental clarity.

Taking herbs for stress relief is one of the cheapest, easiest and healthiest ways to help your mind and body in the fight against stress.
